Welcome to the Weisse Eins* (White 1)

Weisse Eins (White 1), a Focke Wulf FW 190 F8, W Nr 931862, has a rich history and saw action while serving with JG 5 in Norway. The aircraft was last flown during the famous Battle of Fordefjord on February 9, 1945. It came to rest on a snow covered mountain after its pilot was forced to bail out. In September 1983, it was recovered and displayed at Flesland airport, for the Royal Norwegian Air Force Aircraft Museum. Several years after that, the aircraft was sent to the Texas Air Museum for static restoration. It is now located in Florida.

When the Focke Wulf Fw 190 - White 1 takes to the air, we will be treated to sounds rarely heard since the end of WWII. This is because White 1 will be powered by an original BWM 801 radial engine. There are very few working 801s left today and none are currently flown.

White 1 Foundation Mission Statement

Our Museum in no way intends to glorify the former Nazi regime, but rather, as a formal Museum, to preserve the World historical record that it did exist, and to use this once captured aircraft, one of its tools, as a solemn public memorial for all human beings lost in the war.

The priviledge of our freedoms can only be truly appreciated when held in sharp contrast to those who sought to destroy our lives, our country, and our world order.

"Those who do not remember history are destined to repeat it." - Winston Churchill

Our multicultural staff is proudly made up of people from many different backgrounds, and religions.

Hello,

You may be interested in the following link:

http://ktsorens.tihlde.org/flyvrak/geitebotnfjell.html

I am the nephew of Uffz. Robert Merkl, living in Germany. I stumbled across some family history,
leading to the crash of the plane of my uncle in Norway. I noted on the homepage that the BMW engine and other parts were removed to be reassembled in Florida. With the help to two Norwegian historians and my family documents we were able to piece the story together and update it.
Might be of interest to you. Perhaps I 'll be able to pass by sometimes at your museum to look at the original

Best regards from Germany,

Roland Merkl

Photo of the new canopy for White 1.

We had a visitor yesterday at the Museum who as a boy sat in a Bf 109 when one made a forced landing near him. He ran out to see the neat airplane, and the pilot sat him in it. He never forgot.

Today he sat in the FW190, and the tears welled up in his eyes. He could not speak. For him I know that the memories came flooding back, and for a moment he was that little boy again.

Recently we recieved word one of our Members, Mark Faust, was seriously injured. We are pulling for you Mark. Keep up the good fight and get well soon!

Hello,

I came across your website this evening while trying to find information about my great-uncle F/O Hugh Charles Lynch; little did I realize just how much would be available. I'd like to thank you for
your work in assembling the detailed historical notes on your site, and I'd also like to express my appreciation for the hard work you're doing to restore the White 1 aircraft. Your project is obviously of historical significance to my family, and I hope one day to be able to see the aircraft in person.

Thanks again,
Dan Lynch

Ju 52 & He 111 Schilds

White 1 Original Watercolor $25,000.00
The artist is the World famous illustrator Michael English. His diversely gifted works include major brand name advertisements and stamps for the Royal Mail. It is only the second such painting he has done for a special project. This is a very conservative price for this artist, and surely a good investment over time. All proceeds benefit the restoration.
Also included will be original artist sketches made during the painting.

FW190 Signed Print Auction!
E-mail your bid to: white1foundation@yahoo.com

The print has been signed by the famous FW 190 fighter pilot Oskar Boesch, and by the fuselage gunner Forrest Clark who flew in the B-24 Liberator.

Both remember their combats well. Forrest states that he and all the crews feared the FW 190 most of all over the Bf 109. Oskar states that attacking the bomber formations required great courage and concentration and some luck. Oskar remembers attacking on this day, and states that shortly after this image he was on his way down in flames, bailing out successfully. Although the two groups fought in the same airspace during the same period of time, it is likely, but not known for certain if they actually met in battle.

We are the only place that this print is offerred. Thanks to Jerry Boucher for his support!

Special thanks.
We would like to thank our supporter Erik Marrero for passing along some interesting information about his grandfather that we would like to share. It is amazing that we have the direct descendant of the designer of the BMW 801 and Kommandogerat as one of our supporters!

Erik located an article in the December 9, 1946 copy of Aviation News magazine. The article entitled "German Scientists Working for AAF" mentions Dr. Alexaneder Lippisch, Dr. Rudolph Hermann, Dr. Theodor W. Zobel, Fritz Doblhoff, Dr. Rudolph Ammann, and Dr. Heinz Schmitt.

Under Dr. Rudolph Ammann (Erik's grandfather), it states that he is "the designer of the BMW-801 engine used in the Focke-Wulf 190 fighter. This is confirmation from the era (1946) that he was the designer.

NEWS!

Above is one of our two Jumo 213 power eggs following a preliminary cleaning. We hope to install this into our future D-9 project, to be finished in JV 44 colors. If you want to see this sooner, please join, donate, or patronize our Gift Shop.

We recently received this kind note of thanks and wanted to share it with you.

Hello,

In doing a general search of the internet I came across your website. As I scanned through it I found a very familiar name - P/O Blunderfield, my father's uncle. Before this website all I had known about William Blunderfield is that he had been the only son of many daughters of my great grandmother, he had died in WWII and it had been a devastating loss to my family.

I immediately called my father and directed him to the story online not realizing the impact to my family. There was an account of the German Pilot Feldwebel Rudolf Artner. Until that description had been found - I don't think that my family knew what had really happened to Billy.

Thank-you,
Alice Taylor

Special Thanks To:
Vaughn Hossman for priceless gifts of literature in support of the restoration.

Jerome at JP Race Cars for donating so very much of his time on the Trager ring and helping to get this aircraft closer to flying!

We Also Thank:
Joel Rosen and Marty Schorr for their generous support.

We have now available autographed copies of "Innocence and Death" by Forrest Clark
It is an excellent read!!! Forrest really tells it as it was for the crews in the air in a more candid way than the typical publications. He was there and is today here as a member of the Caterpiller Club, many times over bailing out high over Germany. He describes in detail the attacks by the FW190 which was most feared by the bomber crews.

We have a new Honorary Member.

To be sure, we continue to need financial support. It is only a matter of time and money before our flying memorial can take to the skies. The more donations we receive, the faster the work may proceed. Please donate. We need your support.
