Focke Wulf Fw 190 A-4 Werk Nr. 140668

We have just acquired the tag and title to another FW 190!!!!! This one is an A-4 from JG 26. We have limited information on the aircraft, and would welcome any additional information.

This Fw 190 was recovered in the mid nineties from France by John Houston. The aircraft belonged to First Gruppe, Third Staffel, JG 26 and was lost on Oct 2, 1942. The pilot was Gunther Rau who bailed out injured.

The following additional information about 140668 was provided by Eric Larger.

This machine was one of the first losses JG26 suffered against the heavy 8th Airforce bombers on 2 October 1942. That day 49 B-17s were sent over two targets in France.

1 ) 32 B-17s of 43 which left UK made a bomb run over Potez aircraft factory at Meaulte (Paris Area) they recorded 4-9-5 German aircraft. 6 B-17s were damaged , 3 flying crew wounded. They were flying with 31 P-38s as escort fighters one P-38 was lost.

2 ) 6 B-17s made a diversion misson over St Omer airfield, they claimed 5-4-4 . The escort of Spitfires claimed 4-0- 1. The Focke Wulf was one of these claims.

Black 3 Mug $11.95

Static oil cooler rebuilt for Black 3 BMW 801, pre final paint.

Here are some new photos of Black 3's spinner. It is painted and looking like new with a SEB made data plate.

These are breakers from the right side console. No Fl numbers remain.

New information says that the picture above of Black 3 in winter isn't wrk.nr.2219, but Black 3 wrk.nr. 2102. This aircraft was shot down 22/5 1943 by soviet Flak, and the pilot Klas Biwering was killed. Our Black 3 then replaced it.
It also seems that our Black 3 had the Jabo mark on both side of the engine cowling.

The two photos above show the second draft of the paint scheme for Black 3.

Black 3 flew its last mission over Petsamo on Oct 5, 1943. Uffz. Hans Kleeman became lost in weather and ran out of fuel.

Other information about Gelbe 7.
Dave McDonald has provided the following information about this aircraft.
Thank you Dave!

WNr.350221 of 6./JG 54, coded "gelbe 7 + -"
Ofhr. Dietrich Boening, MIA 14.Sept. 1944 near Savansaari, Finland. The pilot bailed out in combat and is MIA.

The "Savansaari" is an error in translation. Lavansaari is an island on Gulf of Finland. It used to be Finnish but was ceded after Winter War to Soviet Union. Soviet Baltic Fleet had an air and naval base there. Today the island is named Moshchnyy island. It is possible that there was no Russian name for the island before it was ceded. In war time it is mostly called "Lavansare" or something like that in Russian sources. Perhaps that was because of lack of good (Russian) for the area. Soviets used also the Swedish names for the islands in Gulf of Finland during war time.

Fw 190 F-8 Wing

The wing as it appears today in the White 1 Hanger. Note the extensive damage on the outer portions caused by vandels.

Here are two pics of our second wing which we have been told may be for White 5. This wing was recovered from Karelia and most certainly is from a ground attack unit, as it appears to be for an F-8. We have no evidence so far that it has been remanufactured. Close examination of the wing revealed minor ground fire damage.

The wing shortly after it was recovered. Note the two ETC50 bomb racks.
A view of the center section complete with ETC501 bomb rack.

There has been a report by historians claiming the aircraft may have been from I/SG5 and was probably Q9+DK or QP+DL of either 2./SG5 or 3./SG5. More information may be available from Russian records of German losses or German loss records. We would greatly appreciate any additional information that could be provided.

This photo shows a similar Fw190 F-8 of I/SG5 . This one was flown by Major Fritz Schröter.

REWARD!!
