Ground Equipment

We are pleased to display some of the various equipment in our collection. These original items were used by Luftwaffe ground crews to service and maintain aircraft.

This Bosch Anlasswagen is the only complete running example in the world and one of two survivors known to us. It has just arrived following a complete restoration in Germany.

Wheel Chocks

Also called Unterlegkeil or Bremsklotz, the wheel chocks in our collection are the same featured in this rare original color photograph. The red and white chocks are being used while starting a Ju 87 Stuka dive bomber. They also have a pull chain attached to keep the ground crew a safe distance from the turning prop.

Here's a few more rare color photos of Luftwaffe ground crews in action.
